With a rich 40-year history in the multifamily industry, FPA Multifamily is a privately held real estate investment firm that specializes in the acquisition, management, and repositioning of multifamily properties. We are focused on maximizing returns for investors through the acquisition of both opportunistic and core multifamily properties in select markets throughout the United States.
Position Summary:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented
Acquisitions Associate to support our acquisitions team. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about real estate investing, eager to grow in the industry, and ready to contribute to all phases of the acquisition process—from sourcing through closing.
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 annual base salary, commensurate with experience. Additional commission potential available.
Work Environment: This is a full-time,
in-office role.
Travel Requirement: This role involves
frequent travel (up to 60%) across the portfolio, including overnight stays.
Responsibilities – Essential Functions:
- Source and develop acquisition opportunities across multiple asset classes.
- Oversee all acquisitions within a specified geographic location.
- Collaborate with Executive Leadership and Analysts to source, underwrite, and evaluate deals using company financial models.
- Participate in property tours, site visits, and preparation of summary reports.
- Assist with due diligence processes for acquisitions and dispositions.
- Conduct sales comparable analyses.
- Support the financing process for acquisitions.
- Draft and prepare Letters of Intent (LOIs).
- Complete market surveys and research trends—both in-person and online—to identify emerging markets and target locations.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1–5 years of experience in multifamily asset management, acquisitions, and/or valuation.
- Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or Business preferred.
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Self-starter who is highly analytical and able to think critically and proactively.
- Well-organized and effective in a fast-paced environment.
- Consistently delivers high-quality work within required timelines.
- Proficiency with industry software such as CoStar.
Attendance/Travel:
- This is a full-time position and may require availability during evenings, weekends, or occasional holidays. Regular attendance and participation in company events and functions are expected.
- Regular travel (over 60%) is required.
Physical Demands:
- The employee will regularly be required to sit, stand, walk, and reach using feet, legs, back, arms, hands, and hands, as well as speak and listen. Extended periods working at a computer and speaking on the phone are expected. Must be able to detect auditory and/or visual alarms and be available for extended/flexible hours and weekends as needed.
